Photographer Jon Beck is a household name in the motorcycle industry. The Californian is well known for his work documenting adventure travel, and his photography has highlighted the pages of Ultimate MotorCycling.
One of our favorite pieces that displays Beck’s unique photography is Jeff Buchanan’s review of the BMW F800GS in the June/July 2009 issue. Beck has an advantage over many because he just doesn’t take photos. A serious motorcyclist, he submerges himself in the project, such as riding along with Buchanan during the F800GS test, and completing the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route.
Closely associated with BMW Motorrad, in March Beck took on a different type of motorcycling adventure – the launch of the 2015 S1000RR. Beck was present at the Circuit of the Americas just outside of Austin, grabbing loads of film to document the launch.
Beck used drones at the circuit, which captured some intense footage as stateside journalists tested BMW’s heavily-revised superbike. But journalists weren’t the only ones present; also riding during the launch at the 3.427-mile circuit that hosts MotoGP was 1998 AMA 250 GP Champion Roland Sands and Grammy-winning recording artist, the Texan Lyle Lovett.
