A direct competitor to the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Honda CBR300R, the KTM RC390 arrives stateside beginning in March 2015.
This entry-level sport bike from the “Ready to Race” brand is based on the KTM’s 390 Duke – a best seller in Europe (along with the RC 125 and RC 200).
The RC390 – built by Baja Auto Ltd. in Indian, which owns a small share of KTM – is powered by a 375cc, liquid-cooled single cylinder engine that makes 44 horsepower. The fuel-injected engine will make it over 10 horsepower more powerful than its main rivals – the Ninja 300 and CBR300R.
Besides the perky single, the 322-lbs (dry) machine arrives with a trellis frame, WP suspension components, a 300mm front-disc brake and disengagable ABS.
Like many European motorcycles, the KTM will be priced just a bit higher than its competitors. Expect the KTM to be offered for around $6,000.
