2014 Yamaha YZF-R6 Recall

Yamaha has recalled 28 of its 2014 YZF-R6 supersports due wheel issues.

Yamaha says on certain model R6 motorcycles built from Aug. 1, 2014, through Sept. 1, 2014, the front and rear wheels may have been manufactured with insufficient harness.

Yamaha says if the wheels have insufficient hardness, they may loosen and/or air may leak from around the tire bead. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.

Yamaha has notified owners, and dealers will replace the front and rear wheel and tire assemblies, free of charge.

The recall began on October 21, 2014. Owners may contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926. Yamaha’s number for this recall is 990088.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or visit to www.safercar.gov.
