Due to heavy downpours in Rapid City, S.D., Tuesday’s Black Hills Half-Mile by Dunlop was canceled.
AMA Pro Racing officials, along with the promoter of the Black Hills Half-Mile, deemed the track unsafe for both Tuesday and Wednesday after heavy rainstorms hit the Midwest venue near the festivities of the 74th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.
“The rainfall tonight was so heavy that it would be impossible to get the track ready for racing tomorrow even if there was to be perfect weather,” said Dan Johnsen, Director of AMA Pro Flat Track.
“We caught some bad luck today, it’s very unfortunate but that’s really all it comes down to.”
No rescheduled event was planned, and the AMA Pro Flat Track series now heads to Indianapolis for the Indy Mile race held during the Red Bull Indy MotoGP weekend.
