2013 MotoGP Championship Preseason Test Calendar

With winter more than halfway over, the official preseason testing sessions for the 2013 MotoGP Championship are about begin.

For 2013, eight official tests will occur before the 2013 MotoGP Championship season-opener race at Qatar April 7. The first official test begins in Sepang Feb. 3-4.

Speaking of this year’s official schedule, MotoGP says: ” Making this year’s test schedule particularly exciting is the adaptation of the spec Magneti Marelli ECU by numerous CRT teams, for which they will be granted an extra two days ‘ECU Test’ in Malaysia before the rest of the field joins them on the 5th February.

“Additionally, the inclusion of highly anticipated Texas race at the Circuit of the Americas means that the Repsol Honda Team has already scheduled a private test there in March, with the possibility still remaining of other teams joining.”

The traditional post-season MotoGP test at Valencia held in November was marred by rain. The test, which is the first time for riders to officially pilot the bikes they will ride in the following season, was led by Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedrosa. The other highlight was Valentino Rossi’s first official return on the Yamaha Factory Racing YZR-M1 following a two-year stint with Ducati. Rossi put in 28 laps in wet conditions, finishing 16th quickest.
