2013 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix Video
Without a doubt, the most exciting part of the 2013 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca was Marc Marquez’s lap-four pass on Valentino Rossi at the legendary Corkscrew.
The 20-year-old MotoGP rookie showed up the 34-year-old icon, just as Rossi famously did to the Casey Stoner (Ducati) with a similar pass back in 2008.
The Repsol Honda rider Marquez, riding like a seasoned veteran, then patiently stocked the leader LCR Honda’s Stefan Bradl. And on lap 19 of 32, Marquez made a clean pass on the German.
Marquez led the rest of the MotoGP, eventually finishing 2.2 seconds ahead of Bradl. Taking the final podium position was nine-time World Champion Valentino Rossi on the Yamaha Factory Racing YZR-M1.
The top five was completed by GO&FUN HOnda Gresini’s Alvaro Bautista and Repsol Honda’s Dani Pedorsa, who rode after missing Sachsenring last week due to a left shoulder injury. The other rider who has been recovering from a left shoulder injury sustained in a crashes at Assen and Sachsenring, Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo finished sixth.
