2013 Husqvarna TR650 Strada
Formerly part of the BMW family, the Husqvarna TR 650 Strada takes a modified version of the 652cc thumper used by the G line of BMWs and gives it a home in a new street chassis.
Sporting a supermoto motif with long travel suspension, a thin chassis, and street tires, the Strada is a bold move for Husqvarna.
Changes to the motor during its transition to BMW to Husqvarna branding include a modified EFI,different camshaft profiles, a different piston and higher revving. Inverted forks and linkage rear suspension keep the Metzeler Tourance EXP tires in contact with the ground.
For fans of the Husqvarna TR650 Strada and its dirt-savvy brother the Terra, the models will be short lived. This was after the BMW/Husqvarna relationship ended in late January. In efforts to focus more on its BMW Motorrad business, the BMW Group had agreed to sell its Husqvarna brand to Pierer Industrie AG (Austria), a holding company owned by Stefan Pierer, the CEO of KTM.
KTM has stated that it will likely discontinue the street models such as the TR650s, and focus fully on the dirt motorcycles.
