The 12-round, 2013 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship wrapped up this past weekend at Lake Elsinore in California.
And although both the 450 and 250 MX titles were clinched a week earlier at the inaugural Miller Motorsports Park round, the action was intense at Lake Elsinore.
All eyes were on Red Bull KTM's Ryan Dungey, who had dominated Lake Elsinore for the past three years. Though he lost the title to Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto, the KTM SX-F 450 rider was a quick favorite at the Red Bull Lake Elsinore National due to his history there.
But the 2012 MX Champ Dungey would not make it to the top of the podium. He would have a 2-2 moto finish, finishing behind the man who sweep the round – the 2013 AMA Motocross Champion Villopoto. Taking third overall was Muscle Milk Honda's Justin Barcia with a 5-3 moto finish.
In the 250 class, this year's champion, GEICO Honda's Eli Tomac, took the overall win with a 2-1 moto finish ahead of Red Bull KTM's Ken Roczen, who finished 1-7. Taking third overall was Cooper Webb aboard the MYPLASH/Metal Mulisha/Star Racing Yamaha.
