2012 AMA Superbike Championship
While training aboard a flat track motorcycle this past Saturday, Monster Energy/Graves Yamaha’s Josh Herrin suffered a crash, injuring his left shoulder.
Yamaha says Herrin’s injury is currently under evaluation, and it has yet to be determined if he will compete at this weekend’s round of AMA Superbike at NOLA Motorsports in New Orleans.
Keith McCarty (Motorsports Racing Division Manager for Yamaha) says: “Josh took a nasty spill while training on a flat track bike last Saturday night. He landed on his left shoulder and may have separated it. He’s going to consult with his doctor, so we’re not sure yet if he’ll be able to race this weekend. We’ll know more, probably by the middle of this week. Obviously, we’re hoping that he’ll be fit enough to ride.”
Herrin, teammate of Josh Hayes, the rider who clinched the 2012 AMA SuperBike Championship two weeks ago at Miami-Homestead, had piloted his YZF-R1 to the podium 10 times this season, though he recorded no wins. With one round remaining, the SuperBike rookie is in third with 307 points, 93 behind Yoshimura Suzuki’s Blake Young.Google+
