Wrooom: Ducati’s Rossi Wins Kart Race

2012 Wrooom Press Ski Meeting

The 22nd edition of the Wrooom Press Ski Meeting event in beautiful Madonna di Campiglio concluded Friday with the typical ice races on four wheels.

During the ice events, the Ducati MotoGP and Ferrari Formula 1 stars went head-to-head in a Kart event and a Fiat 500 race.

And after finishing fifth last season in the Kart races, Valentino Rossi redeemed himself, winning over Formula 1 Ferrari stars such as Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa, Giancarlo Fisichella and Marc Gene. In the Fiat 500 race, Rossi finished second behind Massa and ahead of Alonso.

Due to recovering from an off-season training injury, Rossi’s teammate, the American Nicky Hayden, gave up his driver’s seat in both events to Rossi’s friend and collaborator, "Uccio" Salucci.

Valentino Rossi (Ducati GP12 MotoGP) says: "It was really fantastic. I practice a lot with karts in the summer, and it was great to drive on the ice, especially because it was much colder this time than it was last year, so the track held up well. Felipe (Massa) was faster than I was, but anyway, it was a great night. I enjoyed myself."

The next big event for the Ducati MotoGP team of Rossi and Hayden will be the first test of 2012 at Sepang Jan. 31 through Feb. 2.
