Thunder Valley AMA MX | Video Highlights

2012 AMA Motocross Video

For the first time in AMA Motocross 450 history, a KTM took the win. This was following Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey’s dominating sweep of round three of the 2012 AMA Motocross Championship at Thunder Valley on Saturday.

Dungey ran away with the victories in a field lacking the man who swept the first two rounds of AMA Motocross – Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart. The Floridian crashed while in the lead on the fourth lap. When Stewart got up, he seemed to favor his right hand. Due to the injury, he DNF’d in the first moto, and didn’t start moto2.

With Stewart gone, Dungey took the moto 1 easily; joining him on the podium were Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jake Weimer and former teammate, Yoshimura Suzuki’s Brett Metalfe. In the second moto, Dungey got the holeshot and immediately opened a gap on the field. Joining him on the moto2 podium was Chaparral Honda’s Andrew Short and Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Broc Tickle.
