Stewart’s Mechanic Mark Tex Adams Killed

AMA Supercross News

It’s a sad day for James “Bubba” Stewart, the Joe Gibbs Racing Yamaha Supercross Team, and many across the motorcycle-racing industry.

The somberness arrives from the passing of Stewart’s main motorcycle mechanic, Mark “Tex” Adams. The 28-year-old of Carrolton, Texas, was killed early Friday morning after being struck by another vehicle on Interstate 4 near Lake Helen, Fla.

The Florida Highway Patrol say the fatal incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. while Adams was helping stranded motorists Tiffany Walters, whose vehicle had run out of gas.

Authorities report that while Adams was assisting Walters, another vehicle driven by Glen Ross II, 32, of Orlando, drifted onto the right shoulder, striking Adams’ Ford truck, Walters’ vehicle and ultimately Adams.

Speaking on his Facebook Page, James Stewart says “I got some horrible news that my practice mechanic Mark ‘Tex’ Adams was hit by a car and killed this morning while on the side of the road helping someone whose car had broke down.

“I’m in disbelief that something so tragic could happen while helping someone else in need. I’m stunned because Tex was such a caring person. My heart goes out to his family. Damn this is a sad day. We love you Tex R.I.P.”

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that charges are pending.

Besides being Stewarts’ Joe Gibbs Racing Supercross Team mechanic, Adams also ran “Adams Precision Concepts,” which built custom motorcycles, including a DC Shoe bike, and one built for motorcycle stuntman Travis Pastrana and the Nitro Circus.
