2012 Dakar Rally Video
Stage One of the 2012 Dakar Rally took the competitors 474 miles from Mar del Plata to Santa Rosa de Lap Pampa, Argentina, with the first 35 times.
And once the motorcycle competitors reached the stage’s end Sunday, it was Francisco “Chaleco” Lopez who arrived in Santa Rosa with the top time – 32:37.
Following 14 seconds behind was MRW Red Bull AVM KTM 450 Rally rider Marc Coma, with Argentina’s Javier Pizzolito (Honda) taking third 0:27 seconds back.
During Stage Two, the riders will tackle more than 186 miles in a mix of firm terrain and soft sand to end in San Rafael.
