Donning a number one on his Robin Croft’s Jezac SMRT Racing honda CBR1000RR, Michael Rutter will be looking for a repeat performance of last year’s Macau Grand Prix.

Following the 15-lap race on the streets of Macau in China last year, Rutter took his seventh victory, which is the record for wins at MGP.

The 2012 racing year had some mixed results for Rutter. He didn’t do so well in his British Superbike Campaign, but took the win at the SES TT Zero race and third in the TT Super Twins class at the 2012 Isle of Man TT.

And for the 2012 Macau Grand Prix, Rutter has one of the fastest motorcycle riders as a teammate – 19-time Isle of Man TT winner John McGuinness.

Michael Rutter says: “Macau is always a race I really look forward to throughout the year. I am really happy to be racing with the Jezac SMT Racing team, it’s great to get back on a Honda and I hope I’ll be able to achieve a good result for Robin and his team.

“It’s good to have a teammate like McGuinness, we get on really well and go back a long way so it will be good banter and I’m sure good racing.

“I’m happy to have the support again from my personal sponsors Bathams and R and B (TUFTAC) and to welcome Monster Energy and Datatag on board.

“You never know what will happen over there, but I am really looking forward to getting back out there and getting a good result, the competition as always is strong and it won’t be easy, but I’m eager to get there now and get racing!”

Rutter took a record breaking seventh win around the 3.8-mile street circuit last year after holding six equal wins with the hugely talented Ron Haslam since 2005.

Practice starts on Thursday, with the 15 lap race on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. local time.
