2012 AMA Supercross
With the season-opening round of the 2012 AMA/FIM Supercross Series just days away, the Rockstar Energy Racing teams are looking to seriously dominate at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., on Saturday, Jan. 7.
The Rockstar Energy Racing line-up includes two teams and a multitude of well-respected and talented riders, and the overall game plan is to aggressively campaign both the Supercross and Supercross Lites classes.
Mike Kelso (Rockstar Energy Marketing Director) says: “Everyone at Rockstar Energy is excited about the upcoming 2012 Supercross season.
“Traditionally, we have supported AMA/FIM Supercross and we are continuing this trend in 2012 with the SX and SX Lites classes but now, more then ever, we have group of athletes that are truly part of the Rockstar family that we are honored and blessed to support.
“All of the individuals in the Rockstar Energy Racing effort are gifted racers and we believe they will be in the hunt for wins and podium positions all season.”
Representing Rockstar Energy Racing are Blake Wharton, Martin Davalos, Hunter Hewitt and Jason Anderson. All four riders are veteran Supercross Lites racers who put in solid performances in 2011, with Wharton finishing a particularly impressive fifth overall in Supercross Lites East. For 2012, Davalos and Anderson will race the West region, while Hewitt and Wharton will race the East.
The Star Valli Yamaha team features an all-star cast that includes Ryan Sipes, who celebrated a third-place finish overall last year in Supercross Lites East. In 2012, Sipes will switch to SX Lites West and be joined by Gareth Swanepoel and Nico Izzi.
Contesting Supercross Lites East are Kyle Cunningham and Kyle Peters. Additionally, Austin Stroupe and Ryan Morais will fly the Star Valli Yamaha flag in the premier SX effort, and will be joined by Izzi during the SX Lites East region rounds.
Rounding out the 2012 Rockstar Energy Racing effort are Brett Metcalfe and Nick Wey in the premier Supercross class. Last year, Metcalfe made his SX class debut and carded an eighth-place finish at Anaheim 1.
Unfortunately, injury cut short his season so he’s looking forward to returning to SX in ’12. Rockstar Energy Racing counterpart Wey had a very strong showing in Supercross last year, celebrating a top-10 finish overall in the series.
All the Rockstar Energy Racing teams are looking forward to the 2012 AMA/FIM Supercross series and its kick-off Saturday, Jan. 7 at round one at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif.
