Through a collaborative effort between Husqvarna Motorcycles North America (HMNA) and the Husqvarna Rallye Team by Speedbrain, American rider Quinn Cody has inked a deal to race the FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship in 2013 and the 2014 Dakar Rally.

Quinn Cody says: “Racing the World Rally Championship series and Dakar, I feel like not many Americans get that chance. This is an amazing opportunity for me and I’m really looking forward to working with Speedbrain and Husqvarna.”

Cody is experienced in the infamous Dakar Rally, which he has competed in twice. His 2012 effort (nearly a year ago) was cut short after a hard crash took him out of the race early. Quinn had planned to compete in the 2013 Dakar Rally aboard a Speedbrain Husqvarna TE449 RR, but an injury sustained in the recent Baja 1000 has postponed his debut with the Speedbrain team.

Quinn Cody says: “I had planned to go to Europe the first week of December to do some training and spend time on the bike. But I broke my femur in Baja so our plans have obviously changed. I’m really bummed to have to miss the Dakar Rally, but we’re hopeful that I’ll be ready to go by the start of the world championship series in April. Our plan is to do the whole FIM Rally series so I’ll be able to learn the bike and learn navigation for a year before the Dakar in 2014.”

Husqvarna Rallye Team by Speedbrain manager Wolfgang Fischer: “We´re delighted to sign such a proven U.S. champ. Quinn is fully committed to rally raids and rides at a very high level. He´s also bringing a lot of fans along. We´re anxiously waiting and we will start together as soon as he´s healed up.”

Along with competing in the Dakar Rally and the FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship, Quinn plans to compete in select off-road events in the United States, as well.
