The Isle of Man Government, Department of Economic Development has initiated a commercial program to generate revenue from the newly developed Classic TT Races, which will take place in August 2013. The money generated will be invested back into the event to ensure its long-term viability and success.

The four-day Classic TT, part of the Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling, will feature a number of races and parade laps including a Classic TT Lap of Honour, a VMCC Parade Lap and a recreation of the 1967 Senior TT featuring TT greats, John McGuinness and Giacomo Agostini. The event will also include a Classic TT Paddock Carnival featuring live music, chat shows; vintage fairground rides with fans encouraged to wear 60s themed attire.

A new range of officially licensed Classic TT merchandise is now on sale. Isle of Man based Motorsport Merchandise is now stocking Classic TT branded jackets, fleeces, t-shirts, polo-shirts, hats and beanies whilst a special poster has been commissioned, based on the original 1967 TT Races poster. The poster is a limited edition of 2013 copies and is on sale now priced at £10.

Mannin Media is producing the official Isle of Man Festival of Motorcycling programme pack, which will include a special commemorative Classic TT Race Guide, based on the original 1967 TT version. The pack, which will also include the MGP Race Guide and souvenir festival programme, will go on sale in August 2013 priced at £10. All Classic TT licensed products can be purchased by the official Isle of Man TT and Classic TT web site at iomtt.com.

The Department of Economic Development will also implement a commercial programme that will include corporate sponsorship and licensing opportunities as well as a comprehensive VIP and hospitality programme at the TT Grandstand. Grandstand tickets will also be available for the race days.

Geoff Corkish (MBE, MHK, Department of Economic Development Political Member with responsibility for Tourism and Motorsport) says: “We believe we have a really strong proposition with the Classic TT that will attract commercial partners and revenue for the event as well as encouraging visitors to the Isle of Man.

“We are looking to significantly grow the visitor numbers for this event in the coming years as part of our efforts to increase the economic impact from our motorsport events portfolio. New commercial income streams are a critical part of this strategy and will provide the investment required to grow the event.”
