2012 FIM Trial World Championship
Repsol Montesa Honda’s Toni Bou once again proved his dominance in the FIM Trial World Championship following a sweep of the Japanese Grand Prix over the weekend. This was his fifth consecutive victory in six races (three rounds).
In the first race Saturday, the Motegi track featured low technical difficulty. The several times World Championship made quick work of his competitors in the first lap. By the second pass, he was way ahead of his rivals.
Following his Saturday performance, Bou led the first two laps on Sunday, but was forced to fight until the very end to take the first step of the podium. In the end, only one point over Albert Cabestany (Sherco) allowed the Repsol rider to gather a new triumph.
Toni Bou (Repsol Montesa Honda) says: “Honda does a great job and a big effort for us, so nothing better than taking a double victory in its country to thank them for it. I am very, very happy to have been able to do it. Today it was much more complicated than yesterday, as the round was not decided until the very next zone. It was a perfect weekend that allowed us to close with a great result the first half of the championship. We are very motivated and will keep working to continue like that until the end”
With his win, Bou now has 117 points, 29 ahead of Cabestany as the series heads to Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo (Córdoba) for round four of seven.
