2012 Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix
When MotoGP arrived at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2008, it was the first time the Indiana circuit hosted any motorcycle racing since opening in 1909.
The event became the second MotoGP event to occur on US soil, the Indy Grand Prix joining Laguna Seca. But one thing that’s different about Indy is the inclusion of the support classes, which this year are Moto2 and Moto3. Also joining the action will be the AMA XR1200 series.
And besides the on-track action by MotoGP stars such as Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Casey Stoner and the Americans Nicky Hayden, Ben Spies and Colin Edwards, many off-track events will occur. A few of these are live music, a vendor marketplace and the famed Riders for Health Auction.
The action begins Friday, Aug. 17, and wraps up Sunday, Aug. 19. Following is the offical schedule from Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
