Uddevalla FIM Motocross Qualifying Results

2011 FIM Motocross World Championship

The beautiful track of Uddevalla was the scenery of day one of the eighth GP of the 2011 season. Antonio Cairoli and Ken Roczen dominated the qualifying races and received another Lovemytime Pole position Award, the second one for Cairoli and the seventh one for Roczen.

Antonio Cairoli dominated the race from beginning to end and Max Nagl obtained a solid second position. Ken De Dycker managed to finished third, followed by Steven Frossard and David Philippaerts. Clement Desalle crashed at the start and finished 19th.

In the MX2 Ken Roczen dominated the qualifying race, but Gautier Paulin was very close to the German when they crossed the finish line. Jeffrey Herlings was third and Tommy Searle and Jeremy Van Horebeek were fourth and fifth respectively.

Uddevalla also hosted race one of the UEM EMX-125 championship and Simone Zecchina went out with the victory. Second was Belgian Damon Graulus and third Samuele Bernardini.

FIM Motocross MX1

Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX1’s Cairoli obtained his second Lovemytime pole position award of the season after winning the MX1 Qualifying race. Cairoli did an excellent start and kept the lead until the chequered flag.

Other Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX1’s rider, Nagl, crossed the finish line second, five seconds behind Cairoli. The German was third in the MX1 qualifying race in la Bañeza two weeks ago, but he could not obtain a good result on Sunday, so Nagl is now determined to finish with his bad luck streak and fight for the podium tomorrow.

LS Honda Racing’s De Dycker rode fourth during the first half of the MX1 Qualifying race, but he managed to pass Frossard from the inside and kept the third position until the end of the heat. De Dycker is very confident for tomorrow and he believes he will start obtaining better results from now to the end of the season.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Frossard did not have a very good start and had to fight from an initial fifth position. The French was already third in the second lap, but he could not keep the position until the end of the race and De Dycker overtook him on lap eight.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Philippaerts arrived first in the first turn after the start, but he went down to the sixth position as he did a small mistake. The Italian finished fifth and he is confident for tomorrow’s races.

Home rider Filip Thuresson finished in a solid fifteenth position after starting from the 19th place.

Desalle struggled a lot with his injured shoulder today and he was not fortunate at all, as he was involved in a tangle right after the start of the MX1 Qualifying race. Desalle injured his other shoulder today, so it will be a tough day for him tomorrow.

FIM Motocross MX2

Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX2’s Roczen dominated once more the MX2 Qualifying race and he will be able to choose the best gate tomorrow. The German admitted that he does not feel any pain on his back while he is riding, but he is not yet 100% recovered, as he still feels some pain after he rides.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Gautier was fourth in the opening lap, but he had a very good speed and managed to move to the second position already on the second lap. The French closed the gap with Roczen by the end of the race and he crossed the finish line just one second behind the German.

Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing’s MX2’s Herlings took the holeshot and he managed to finish third. The Dutch rider was very satisfied with his performance, as all the team have been working really hard on the settings of the bike and they are looking forward to obtaining a good result tomorrow.

CLS Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Searle starred in a thrilling battle for the second position with Paulin and Herlings during the first half of the race, but he had to settle down with a final fourth position. Tomorrow is going to be a crucial day for Searle, as he is third in the Championship and Uddevalla marks the mid-point of the season.

Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing MX2’s Van Horebeek finished in a solid fifth position in his comeback to the series. The Belgian rider missed the beginning of the season due to a shoulder injury, but he has been training really hard during the last three weeks and he is confident to do well tomorrow and improve GP per GP.

Valentin Teillet, who was also back from a shoulder injury he suffered in Bulgaria, finished in a consistent eighth position, while Max Anstie finished 14th.
