2012 AMA Motocross/Supercross
The man who took both the AMA Motocross and Supercross titles in 2010 aboard the Rockstar Makita Suzuki RMZ-450 will be leaving the team at the conclusion of the 2011 MX season, American Suzuki reported Monday.
American Suzuki says although Dungey will be departing at the conclusion of the 2011 AMA Motocross championship, the Japanese marquee will continue to provide Dungey a ride for the upcoming Motocross Des Nations, which will be held Sept. 17-18 in France.
The rumors across the motocross scene now are heavily favoring Dungey joining his former Team Manager Roger DeCoster on the KTM team. Under DeCoster’s leadership, Dungey won the 2010 AMA Supercross and Motocross championships; before moving to KTM, DeCoster spent 15 years with Rockstar Makita Suzuki.
Mike Webb (Suzuki Supercross/Motocross Team Manger) says: “Ryan Dungey has had great success in his years with the team as Suzuki’s Championship DNA propelled him to score both 250 and 450 titles aboard the RM-Z. We all wish Ryan much luck with his future endeavors.”
Suzuki, which has been a dominate presence in the AMA SX and MX series for over seven years, reports that the team will retain Brett Metcalfe.
American Suzuki says the 27-year-old Australian joined Suzuki at the beginning of the 2011 season with solid credentials and has demonstrated strength, determination and the ability to win aboard the Suzuki RM-Z. Although injuries shortened his 2011 supercross season, Metcalfe has shown his ability during the current motocross season, scoring an overall win as well as two podiums and 3 top five finishes. Metcalfe finished the season a solid fourth in points in the 2011 AMA Pro Motocross series.
Mike Webb says: “We’re extremely happy to have Brett Metcalfe as part of our team for 2012. Metty has shown he has the stuff to win and is a great ambassador for the sport and a quality representative for American Suzuki.”Google+
