2011 AMA Supercross
Many fans were in distress during the moment following James Stewart’s crash at Jacksonville Supercross, especially when the Haines, Fla., native was carried off on a stretcher.
But once reports began filtering through the Supercross world, many fans were relieved to know that Stewart didn’t break any bones, although he was bruised during the first lap crash.
And further relief arrived when Stewart reported he would be competing at this Saturday’s Supercross event in Toronto’s Rogers Center. After the accident, Stewart immediately focused on prepping for Round 12, hoping to make up the points he lost at Jacksonville.
James Stewart (San Manuel Yamaha YZ450F) says: "I was definitely banged up pretty good in Jacksonville, but I’m feeling a lot better now and ready for Toronto. At this point it’s all about the Championship and every race counts. I want to thank my fans, my team and my sponsors for all of their support this week and every week of the series. It really means a lot to me."
Due to the DNF, Stewart upset the points standings, falling from second to fourth behind the series leader Ryan Villopoto (Monster Energy Kawasaki). Stewart’s rival, Two-Two Motorsports Honda’s Chad Reed, moved into second after seven consecutive podiums, and the reigning Supercross Champion, Rockstar Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey, has moved into third.
But it’s still a tight battle; Stewart is currently 23 points behind Villopoto with six Supercross rounds remaining.
