Shift Racing: No More Street Apparel

Motorcycle Industry News

The current economy continues to plague the motorcycle industry, this time taking its aim at Shift Racing.

The details are scarce, but Shift Racing’s Media Relations Manager, Brian Horton, confirmed Thursday that the motorcycle apparel company will be closing its Street Division, effective immediately.

He could not provide UltimateMotorcycling.com with any further comment. Shift Racing, an apparel division of parent company and MX giant Fox Head Inc., will now only offer its motocross apparel.

This past December, Shift Racing hosted a party at its Irvine, Calif., offices, inviting journalist from across the motorcycle industry to inspect its 2011 apparel lineup. From the looks of the 2011 gear, one would never have anticipated Shift would discontinue its street apparel line.

Shift Racing entered the motorcycle apparel scene back in 1997, and began offering street apparel five years ago. Currently, its biggest sponsor regarding street gear is Josh Herrin, who pilots the Graves Yamaha YZF-R6 in AMA Daytona Sportbike.
