Peter Lenz, a nine-time national motorcycle racing champion, passed away at Indianapolis Motor Speedway after a tragic motorcycle road racing crash on Aug. 29, 2010, just one day before he was to begin eighth grade year at St. Joseph Catholic School.
Since that first day of school without Lenz, his fellow classmates and all of his school community have searched for a way to remember him and his zest for life. Their search is now becoming a reality.
The Peter Lenz Memorial Athletic Field will be built on a large tract of land owned by St. Joseph Catholic Church, adjacent to the playground of St. Joseph Catholic School, in Vancouver, Wash. This memorial to Peter will encompass a multi-lane running track and grass athletic infield.
The six-lane, 300-meter track will be utilized for Physical Education class, recess activities and annual Jog-a-thon, as well as the Track and Cross Country Program. The inner field will host recess games, Physical Education activities, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, lacrosse, other games and, most importantly, a combination of fun and exercise for children.
It is the hope of the Peter Lenz Forever 45 group that you will help memorialize Peter in this very special way by making a donation to the Peter Lenz Memorial Athletic Field.
Please visit the memorial page to make a secure contribution by credit card or mail your gift to St. Joseph Catholic School, Peter Lenz Memorial, 6500 Highland Drive, Vancouver, WA 98661.
