MotoGP: Honda’s Pedrosa to Catalunya?

2011 MotoGP Crash Update

As Dani Pedrosa continues to recover from breaking his right collarbone at the French Grand Prix, the Repsol Honda MotoGP rider’s appearance at his home race in Catalunya this weekend remains questionable.

As Pedrosa recuperates, he has been keeping his MotoGP fans updated through his personal blog. In the blog, Pedrosa says his shoulder, which was broken during a controversial pass made by San Carlo Honda Gresini’s Marco Simoncelli, is healing well, and he’s hoping to compete in Catalunya, which is the second of four MotoGP races in Spain, the most of any country.

Dani Pedrosa had surgery on the shoulder a few days after the French MotoGP crash. This crash came as Pedrosa was just beginning to fully heal from breaking his left collarbone at Motegi in 2010 MotoGP.

Following is Pedrosa’s blog:

Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda RC212V MotoGP) says: “Once again thank you to everyone for your support. It’s been great these past few days to know that you are always there, and meanwhile I have continued with my recuperation process for my collarbone, moving slowly and taking a step forward.

“The work with the physiotherapists has gone well and I’ve already started to move the affected area a little, after the initial few days in which I had to keep it immobilized. The truth is that at the moment I can’t give any concrete news. I know everybody wants to know more about what I’ll do this weekend, whether I’ll be at the Catalunya GP or not, but right now I really can’t tell you anything more because nobody knows – neither myself nor the medical team – and you all know I’ve never liked to speculate.

“I know you’re always there and have never stopped supporting me at any time, but your support in these past weeks has been very special. I want to express my appreciation especially to the people from the fan club. They sent me a shirt signed by a huge number of fans and also made a compilation of songs which have a very special significance. I’ve been listening to them a lot and I want to thank you greatly for the attention to detail, you are great.

“As I’ve been spending a lot of time at home due to the advice given to me by the medical team I’ve been able to follow the climax of the Giro d’Italia. Alberto Contador has been immense and I congratulate him on his victory and above all else for the fantastic moments he has delivered which all cycling fans have enjoyed. He is a superstar.”

“And of course I want to congratulate FC Barcelona on their fourth Champions League title. They played magnificently and deserved it. On Saturday evening a few of us gathered at home to watch the final and we enjoyed it greatly.”
