2012 Moto2 Testing
During a first-free Moto2 practice crash on Oct. 21 at Sepang for the Malaysian Grand Prix, Repsol’s Marc Marquez suffered injuries that caused vision problems.
These injuries kept the 2010 125cc MotoGP Champion from competing in the Malaysian round, and also the Moto2 finale at Valencia, where he would have been the only rider able to challenge Stefan Bradl for the title.
But although over a month has passed, these vision problems continue to plaque the Spaniard. Marquez, who achieved seven victories, 11 podiums and seven poles during his rookie Moto2 year, will now be forced to miss the Moto2 tests this Wednesday through Friday at Jerez.
Repsol reports: “After the last medical checks. made last Thursday in Barcelona by Dr. Jordi Arruga, neuro-ophtalmologist of the Instituto Catalán de la Retina, the decision was taken for Marc Márquez not to be in these Jerez tests as he is not yet fully recovered from the sight problem he suffers since his crash.”
Although he won’t be at the Moto2 test, there is much progress; Marquez’s vision is improving, Dr. Arruga reports.
Knowing that the injury needs a recovery time, Marquez’s manager Emilio Alzamora commented that “as the doctors said, we cannot estimate how much time will Marc need to be completely recovered, although the evolution of the injury has been positive, as Dr. Arruga informed us. So right now we need to be patient.”
