SX Lites East Results

The opening round of the Supercross Lites East Regional Championship brought a huge crowd of almost 46,00 SX fans, in a packed Reliant Stadium, to their feet on Saturday night.

As the series moves from West to East, one thing stayed consistent, the podium domination of both the Kawasaki KX 250 and Honda CRF 250 machines in the 15-lap main event.

As the gates dropped in Houston Texas for the East Supercross Lites class main event, Malcolm Stewart on his Suzuki RM-Z 250 grabbed the hole shot in just his professional racing debut.

The Suzuki City Team rider was quickly passed by Geico Insurance sponsored Justin Barcia on his Honda CRF 250 R and Pro Circuit’s Dean Wilson on his Kawasaki KX 250 F, who gradually pulled away from the field.

The pair of second-year SX Lites riders traded the top spot on several occasions before Barcia asserted himself in the top spot and held on for the remainder of the East Supercross Lites race.

Justin Barcia (2011 Honda CRF 250 R) says: "That’s racing right there," comments the Geico Honda 250 rider. "If we didn’t put on a show, then I don’t know what will. We had a great race out there. I’m just so thankful for my whole team. Going that fast, that hard and that intense for 15 laps was crazy, but that’s what I’ve been training for."

Dean Wilson followed in the runner-up spot while his Pro Circuit Kawasaki teammate, and former Honda 250 rider, Blake Baggett, of Grand Terrace, Calif., followed in third.
