2012 World Superbike
The England-based Superbike racing team, Crescent Suzuki, has made its officialy entry into 2012 World Superbike.
The Crescent Suzuki team, which has had success in both the 2011 British Supersport and British Superbike classes, is based out of England. The Crescent names arrives from the dealership in England that carried Suzuki motorcycles since 1963, and entered the British Superbike Championship in 1996.
Besides fielding BSS and BSB teams, which includes fielding the American John Hopkins who finished runner-up in 2011 BSB, Suzuki has also fielded a International Road Racing bike with Guy Martin, and had entered multiple World Superbike races as a wildcard entry; the latest came at this year’s Silverstone World SBK round, when Hopkins piloted the Crescent Suzuki GSX-R1000 to the pole.
Crescent Suzuki says the team "intends to enter the Championship with exactly the same philosophy as it has always maintained; to use the best riders, staff, and machine technology possible and to aim for a completely competitive level of performance. The team is confident that the Suzuki GSX-R1000, with additional developments and enhancements, will be able to compete with the best teams."
As for riders, nothing has been made official yet. It is also unknown if the only Suzuki on the 2011 World Superbike grid, the Team Alstare Suzuki ridden by Michel Fabrizio, will compete in 2012; the Alstare team has yet to make an announcement.
