CRMOTO Motorcycle Recall
CFMOTO, a Chinese motorcycle/scooter manufacturer, has recalled 6,405 CF250T motorcycles due to not complying with federal regulations.
CFMOTO says certain model 2005 through 2009 CRF250T and CRF205T V5 Automatic motorcycles built from Jan. 1, 2005, through Dec. 31, 2009, were manufactured with a left-hand rear brake instead of the required right-foot rear wheel brake.
Due to this, the CFMOTO motorcycles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard Number 123 “Motorcycle Controls and Displays.” The absence of standardized motorcycle controls may hinder the operator’s ability to effectively brake, increasing the risk of a crash.
CFMOTO will notify owners, and dealers will install a right-foot control rear brake free of charge.
The safety recall is expected to begin on or before May 1, 2012. Owners may contact CFMOTO at 1-888-823-6686.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or visit safercar.gov.
