AMA Motocross
Just one week after making his return to racing at the Spring Creek National, Round 8 of the 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship, Tommy Hahn worked his way up to his second podium position of season in moto two at Saturday’s Washougal National.
Bill Keefe (team manager) says: “Tommy put in some great rides, and put together two solid motos. It’s good to see him up in the top five where he belongs.”
Tommy got off the line in a hurry in moto one, running sixth coming into turn one. Tommy put in a solid ride, battling for position with the other riders, and pushing up to fifth by the halfway point of the moto. On lap thirteen, Tommy made a push for fourth, but slid out when he got on the power for the pass. Hahn made a quick recovery and got back in the race, but he had lost two positions and finished seventh.
Moto two saw Hahn launch to a solid start again, and make a strong push from sixth to third late in the race to take his second podium position of the season. His RM-Z450’s suspension was working overtime on the track’s choppy surface, but it allowed Hahn to carefully choose his lines, and the fuel-injected engine gave him great drives down the straights.
Tommy’s current teammates, Jarred “Jet” Browne in the 450 class and Chris Johnson in the 250 class, both struggled in Washougal. Jarred placed in the top fifteen in moto one, but a crash in moto two put him in 32nd for an overall finish of eighteenth. Chris also put in a top fifteen finish in moto one, and a seventeenth place finish in moto two placed him seventeenth overall.
Fellow Rockstar Energy Suzuki racers Ryan Morais and Hunter Hewitt will be back on their bikes this week after taking some time off to recover from the injuries they sustained earlier in the season. Both riders will be evaluated later this week to determine when they will be able to return to racing.
Bill Keefe says: “It’s still too early to say when Hunter or Ryan will be able to race, but they are back on their bikes and practicing again. They will be seeing their doctors for evaluation later this week.”
