Supermoto Shift Racing Report
Ryan Kearns gives you the inside scoop from Round 7 of the Supermoto USA Series in Stockton, Calif., last weekend.
Wow! That’s all I have to say about this round. Even though rain was a major factor in the ability to race to my potential, I was still extremely upset with my results at this Supermoto race.
In the 250 class, we started out racing the whole track including the dirt section but by the 3rd lap the dirt was a complete mud pool in which I took several dips!
The Supermoto ace was red flagged and the track was redesigned to exclude the dirt and we went back to racing. Riding in the rain is hard enough, but racing in the rain on slicks is even crazier. I fell, slid, and hydroplaned around the track to take third in that class.
The 450 class was basically a repeat of the 250 class and my main goal was just to stay upright and make it to the finish line. The rain was coming down so hard it was very hard to see but I managed to finish the Stockton Supermoto in fourth place.
The Unlimited pro class was next. I really wanted to do well in this race but because of the rain and not having the proper tires, I chose to ride my 250 hoping it would be easier to handle. The 250 worked well but being down on power still hurt my results and I ended up finishing fifth.
Nov. 20 is the last round of the season for supermoto and will be held in San Mateo, Calif. I have a lot on the line with this race so I’m eager to hopefully redeem myself and end the season on a great note.
Thanks again to Shift for the awesome support this season!
