Silverstone is the host of the 2010 AirAsia British Grand Prix. Silverstone Circuits Limited has signed a five-year agreement with Dorna Sports (the promoter and rights holder for MotoGP) to host the British Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) from 2010. The circuit last hosted Motorcycle Grand Prix racing between 1977 and 1986.

The 2010 MotoGP Championship Event at Silverstone gears-up to host Britain’s only round on June 18th – 20th, 2010. The brand-new English racetrack facility has announced lots of exciting event plans to go along with the motorcycle racing action.

As well, all of the Moto Grand Prix riders (less the injured Valentino Rossi) will be taking time-out to make appearances on a purpose-built concert stage in the public Entertainment Zone at the new Arena Complex.

TV presenters Toby Moody and Julian Ryder will host the evening’s entertainment, interviewing all of the riders at various intervals between approximately 17:00 and 19:00hrs on the Saturday of the AirAsia British Grand Prix (Saturday June 19th).

And the entertainment doesn’t stop there! The rider appearances will be topped and tailed with live music from bands, including Jamie Whitham’s The Po Boys, and a DJ.

Additional entertainment planned for the Saturday of MotoGP at Silverstone includes:

> Stunt and freestyle displays from the Red Bull X-Fighters

> Dougie Lampkin and Craig Jones – a specially designed motocross track featuring a round of the Red Bull Pro Nationals motocross championships

> Freestyle MotoX competition, a Silverstone Youth Slam race

> Qualifying rounds ahead of Sunday’s 125cc 2 Stroke Supercross

> Silverstone 2 Stroke MotoX Invitation races

> Superbike school pillion rides

> Supermoto Masters Cup and Mini Grand Prix racing on Silverstone’s new multi-surface 1.088 mile fully-licensed Stowe Circuit

> Blades Aerobatic displays

Meanwhile, the highlights of Saturday’s on-track action include Qualifying for Sunday’s MotoGP, Moto2, 125cc and 250GP ACU National Championship races, as well as the first of the weekend’s two Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship races.

Richard Phillips, Managing Director of Silverstone Circuits Limited, said: “We promised MotoGP fans a better experience when they come to Silverstone and that is exactly what they are going to get. Not just on race day – on all three days!

“Working with Dorna and the MotoGP teams, we are delighted to confirm that all of the MotoGP riders will be making scheduled appearances in the Arena Entertainment Zone on Saturday evening.
