MotoGP News

TelevisiĆ³n EspaƱola and Dorna Sports presented the documentary "Jorge" in a special premiere of the 80-minute film at the Cine Capitol in Madrid on Thursday evening.

The red carpet event in the Spanish capital was attended by 2010 MotoGP World Champion and subject Jorge Lorenzo.

Produced by Dorna and presented by TVE the feature film documents the 23-year old’s journey from promising young talent to MotoGP World Champion, following Lorenzo in his pursuit of the title and getting up close and personal with only the second ever Spanish rider in history to claim the premier class crown.

Shot in high definition "Jorge" gives a detailed insight into the life of the MotoGP star from Mallorca, both on a professional and personal level.

An in-depth and heartfelt interview with Lorenzo himself, his parents, friends and professional associates provides viewers with a complete profile of the World Champion, as does family video footage and images of the key moments of the 2010 campaign which include the hours before and after the Yamaha rider clinched the MotoGP World Championship title in Malaysia in October.

The exclusive behind the scenes footage in "Jorge" helps paint a picture not only of Lorenzo the highly motivated and determined MotoGP racer, but also the young man off the track as his daily life is captured on film.

Jorge Lorenzo (Fiat Yamaha MotoGP) says: "This is very exciting and Im looking forward to people getting to know the real Jorge."

"Im quite open and I dont really mind that people get to see bits of my private life. I got used to having TV cameras around me, you tend to forget about it quite easily. I think that having some unseen footage from when I was a child and when I’m away from the circuits makes this documentary more interesting."

Manel Arroyo (Dorna Sports Managing Director) says: "Its been an exciting project! When the idea came up we started to talk with Jorges management and Yamaha, and everybody made a big joint effort to make this happen. Now we are able to deliver something unique."

"This close collaboration allowed us to offer something really different as we were able to go behind the scenes with Jorge Lorenzo, and explain how he got to where he is today. Now we expect to distribute the documentary in markets further afield than Spain. So far weve been focusing on finishing it after the season ended, and we already know that several broadcasters are interested in it."

TelevisiĆ³n EspaƱola, who has broadcast Lorenzo’s World Championship exploits throughout the year at every round, will screen the documentary this Saturday on La1. "Jorge" will also be available for purchase in retail stores next year.
