This Christmas, British comedian Ross Noble is making an appeal on behalf of Riders for Health. Ross has used this week’s Radio 4 appeal to highlight the need to get health workers in Africa mobile using motorcycles so they can reach the most isolated communities.

In the appeal, Ross explains how Solomon Mwembe, a Health Officer in the Binga District of Zimbabwe, is responsible for 10,000 people scattered across hundreds of miles of rough terrain.
Riders for Health recently provided Solomon and his team with motorcycles and taught them how to maintain them so that they never break down. Ross describes that in a recent outbreak of malaria the motorcycles helped Solomon to reach every village saving thousands of lives.
