VR 46 Pics
Here are the latest pics of Valentino Rossi, who took a Yamaha YZF-R1 for a test on the Motorland Aragon on Wednesday, the circuit that will host Round 13 of the 2010 MotoGP Championship. One pic is also included of Andrea Dovizioso at Aragon aboard CBR1000RR on the track.
Under MotoGP rules, both riders weren’t able to test their racing machines (Rossi’s Fiat Yamaha M1 or Dovizioso’s Repsol Honda RC212V). The nine-time world champion Rossi remarked on the track, saying there are many curves that are “complicated but fun,” especially the entrance to turn 16.
Besides Rossi, Dovizioso also performed a few laps Wednesday. After piloting his Honda CBR1000 around the Spanish circuit, Dovi highlighted the “amount of overtaking” so expects a “fun run” next week during the Aragon Grand Prix.
The returning Hiroshi Aoyama also rode his Interwetten Honda around the circuit on Tuesday. Rossi’s teammate Jorge Lorenzo was on the circuit mid-August, as was the other Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa in July.
The man in the pictures, Valentino Rossi, has signed a contract with Ducati Team for 2011, and will be competing with Ducati Team rider Nicky Hayden. Rossi currently has 104 wins (78 in MotoGP, 14 in 250cc and 125cc 12), has participated in 233 Grands Prix and also has 167 podiums, 59 pole positions and 84 fastest laps to his credit.
Motorland Aragon will host the 13th of 18 MotoGP rounds this Sept. 7-19. The circuit now joins the other Spain circuits on the schedule: Jerez, Valencia and Barcelona.
A deal was signed between MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports and Motorland in March, and the circuit is now reserved for the next five years on the MotoGP schedule. Dorna Sports CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta said after the agreement was signed with Motorland, the venue “shows that Spain is a country with the best circuits in the world.”
