AMA Racing Brings Excitement to VIR

Motorcycle Racing

For AMA Pro Racing fans, there’s a load of excitement at this weekend’s historic Virginia International Raceway, which will host the Suzuki White Lightning AMA Pro SuperBike Nationals presented by Foremost Insurance.

With cooler temperatures forecast, five different classes of thrilling motorcycle racing and lots of fun once you’re at the track, this is a great weekend that is the perfect way to have some summer fun before back to school or work!

Race fans will love the on track competition as the best professional racers in the country battle it out for championship points in AMA Pro Racing classes — American SuperBike, Daytona SportBike, SuperSport and the Harley-Davidson XR1200s.

Many famous AMA racers will be competing, including Team Graves Yamaha rider Josh Hayes, Foremost Insurance Ducati rider Larry Pegram, Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider Tommy Hayden and Geico Powersports Suzuki rider Danny Eslick.

For something completely different, fans will also get to see the new TTXGP electric bikes as they finish their 2010 season too. Bikes have special parking areas every day at VIR close to the action.

For the family, the kid’s will love the Kid’s Zone and Water Wars attractions. Mom can get a relaxing massage at the Oak Tree Spa while dad can check out all the latest bikes and gear at VIR’s manufacturer’s midway and vendor alley (over 35 displays are expected).

Leading up to Saturday and Sunday’s races, there is non-stop action. First there are fan laps for bikes, followed by stunt shows by Jason Britton’s Team No-Limit, and then live music presented by Paul Reed Smith Guitars along with a fan walk where the fans can see all the race bikes and riders up close. Then the pre-race ceremonies and the thrill of a standing start of racing motorcycles with races back to back to back.

Later in the evening on both Friday and Saturday, the pace never slackens as Team No-Limit puts on another stunt show and then Nex-Faze takes to the stage in the VIR Pavillon (presented by Miller Beer) and plays a wide range of music from current hits to classic rock to country!

There will even be a special Fan Feast with food and drinks available and a great fireworks show Saturday night. If you want to relax in a quieter setting, head up to the Oak Tree Tavern for the poolside cookout on Saturday night.

It all takes place this weekend, Aug. 13-15 at VIR – the Suzuki White Lightning AMA Pro SuperBike Nationals presented by Foremost Insurance weekend show.
