Yosh Riders Rock Budds Creek MX

Motocross News

Yoshimura racers Ryan Dungey and Andrew Short topped the podium at the Budds Creek round of the 2010 AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

The two racers battled it out aboard their Yoshimura-powered machines, and came away with a 1-2 overall finish for Yoshimura. Budds Creek marks the third overall win in a row for Dungey, and the second consecutive podium for Short.

Andrew got off the line in a hurry at the start of moto 1, taking the holeshot and quickly turning it into a solid lead. Short led the pack wire-to-wire, and ended up taking the win. Meanwhile, Dungey fought his way up to second from his sixth-place start, using the power of his Yoshimura-equipped RM-Z450 to move up.

A crash later in the race caused Dungey to drop back a few positions, but he got back on the gas and fought to an impressive third-place finish, made even more amazing by the fact that he was forced to ditch his goggles after the crash and continued racing through the roost without them.

Moto 2 saw Short and Dungey up at the front again, with Short taking his second holeshot of the day, and Dungey not far behind. After a few laps, Dungey made a move for the lead and passed Short. Dungey maintained his lead the rest of the moto, and went on to take his fifth moto win of the season as well as the overall at Budds Creek.

Dungey’s teammate and fellow Yoshimura rider Matt Moss also had a successful race at Budds creek, and posted his best results so far this season. Moss and his Yoshimura-prepped RM-Z450 went 13-18, and took 16th overall.

Yoshimura’s Davi Millsaps had a promising start to the day as he qualified in the top 10, but a Moto 1 crash left him sidelined for the rest of the day. He’s expected to make a full recovery.

The next round of the 2010 AMA Pro Championship will take place at Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Lakewood, Colorado.
