As the AMA Supercross Lites Eastern Region season kicks off this weekend in Indianapolis, Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki looks to defend its title with Christophe Pourcel and rookies Tyla Rattray and Dean Wilson.
Pourcel claimed five wins last season on his way to winning his first AMA title. After an injury in early January sidelined him, the former MX2 World Champion has recovered fully and is ready to defend his crown.
Christophe Pourcel Speaks…
"I’m ready for the season to start," said Pourcel. "I started riding a week ago after my surgery and now it is time to start racing. All the usual guys will be fast, but I’m ready to start winning races again."
While Pourcel brings loads of experience to the series, rookie Dean Wilson will be making his AMA professional debut at Indy. Wilson earned top amateur honors last year claiming the AMA Horizon Award. Wilson also made a splash on the world stage winning the b-class final at the Motocross of Nations in his professional debut.
Dean Wilson Speaks…
"I’ve been waiting my entire life for this," said Wilson. "Everything is so exciting right now, I can’t wait for the race on Saturday. At first I wanted to race on the West Coast, but now I’m glad I waited. I’ve been watching these early races and learning. Plus it’s always good to get more practice in."
After breaking his shoulder last week, Rattray is unable to race at Indianapolis, but he is working hard to get out on the track as soon as possible. Rattray is also a former MX2 World Champion and he is hoping to make his AMA Supercross Lites debut soon.
All of Saturday’s action from Lucas Oil Stadium can be seen live on SPEED starting at 7:00 pm ET.
