Ducati North America is excited that, for the second year in a row, Ducati Island will be transplanted from its watery oasis at Laguna Seca to other premiere and world-level races across the Nation. As Ducati Island celebrates its 13th consecutive year at Laguna Seca Raceway during the Red Bull US Grand Prix, all the off-track excitement and hospitality offered uniquely by Ducati will continue to improve. Ducati will host Island events in 2009 at Daytona International Speedway, Miller Motorsports Park, Laguna Seca Raceway, and the Red Bull Indianapolis GP.
Ducati Island is motorcycle racing’s premier off-track experience. Ducati North America has expanded Ducati Island this year with more attractions and more opportunities for owners and fans alike to get involved. Highlights include:
>> Ducati Hospitality: the most comfortable venue at the races-complimentary for all Ducati owners (note: A Ducati motorcycle key is no longer proof of ownership, you must bring your current Ducati registration or insurance and picture ID with you to obtain Ducati Island hospitality access)
>> Ducati-Only Parking: you can’t get any closer to the action than this-only Ducati owners can ride in and out with this much freedom
>> Ducati Fashion Shows: they need no introduction-the latest Italian fashions on the best looking models are always the fan favorite Island event
>> Ducati Performance Apparel & Accessories: On the Island you can you get the latest and greatest Ducati apparel and gear from Ducati Daytona’s apparel store
>> WyoTech Garage: showing off Ducati’s inner workings, WyoTech is featuring a public transformation of Ducati North America’s Project 848 bike where you will be able to interact with the technician during the process-WyoTech’s new Ducati certification program ensures that your dealership’s certified Ducati mechanics are the best trained in the business
>> Autograph Signings: Ducati is back in American Superbike with the 1098 R and Larry Pegram-with a World Championship-winning motorcycle, Larry Pegram is gunning for the top spot. Pegram and Daytona’s Ducati legend, Cook Neilson, will be on the Island signing autographs
Other major highlights include the all-new Ducati Island Showdown and the chance to walk away with an exclusive Ducati Watch by Binda.
The Ducati Island Showdown is an open contest that will be held on each of the four Ducati Islands and at the Barber AMA round. The concept is simple-show up with the best Ducati in your class and ride home a winner. The 2009 showdown is sponsored by Motorcyclist Magazine, Pirelli, Puma, Oakley, Moto-Euro and Foremost Insurance.
Ducati North America wants to reward one lucky Ducati Island visitor an exclusive Ducati Watch by Binda. Make sure to fill out your entry before the end of the weekend and you will be in the running. An additional winner will be selected to receive a gift certificate from Bridgestone tires. The winners will be selected on Sunday and your only chance to enter is at the races (see contest details on the Island for more information).
