2008 Yamaha WR250X | ShowCase

Still something of a fringe motor sport in the United States, supermoto has taken another step toward the mainstream as Yamaha introduces the WR250X for 2008. It is the second Japanese supermoto bike to reach our shores—following the Suzuki DR-Z400SM—but the first with EFI.

Based on Yamaha’s excellent WR250F off-road weapon, the WR250X features 17-inch wheels with radial street tires, plus lowered gearing for increased acceleration. The motor uses a 4-valve head (with titanium intake valves), has a redline of 10,000 rpm and electric starting. (Click image to enlarge)
