BMW Recalls K1200R and K1200S Motorcycles
BMW has recalled 2,062 of its K 1200 R, K 1200 R Sport and K 1200 S motorcycles, model year 2007-2008, due to brake reservoir issues.
BMW says in certain riding conditions, the brake fluid in the front brake fluid reservoir can foam. If this occurs, it could lead to a reduced braking capability of the front brake system, possibly resulting in a crash.
BMW says it will retrofit the front brake fluid reservoir with a screen insert, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during November 2012. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-525-7417 or email BMW at CustomerRelations@bmwusa.com.
This recall is an expansion of safety recall 09V-202. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or visit safercar.gov.Google+
