GP Racing Video
Motorcycle Grand Prix Racing in the 1960′s was much different then modern day MotoGP. Void of displacement, the tiny 50cc GP motorcycles revved to the high heavens. The Suzuki race bikes of the era spun between 15,000 and 20,000 RPM.
This amazing Japanese footage of the 1963 and 1964 World 50cc Motorcycle Grand Prix series highlights tons of Suzuki motorcycle racing action and is split between two clips that are thirty minutes.
The second video includes some great black and whites from the Isle of Man TT races. The roads barely had any hay bales and at of death defying 100 mph speeds on skinny cross-ply tires and fading drum brakes, the racers of the day faced grave danger.
Although the speed were a lot slower, full-face motorcycle helmets and other advanced motorcycle safety gear was certainly not up to today’s protection standards.
